An exploration of inhalation. |
Human senses interact with the world continuously, from natural to artificial environments of sight, taste, touch, sound, and smell. Visual elements focus our attention and delight us, cooking has evolved through time and cultures to satisfy our stomachs, tactile sensations are incorporated into everything we wear and feel, music has served as entertainment for as long as the human voice could carry a tune, but what of our sense of smell?
|
In a world of unequal exposure to pollution, divergent labor in a post-covid society where only some have the privilege of working from home, and a reassessment of one of our most fundamental and intimate senses, our BioDesign group wanted to explore the relationship of scent, health, and the commercial reality of creating a mask series to serve humanity.

Our project aims to take the latest research in bioelectronic olfactory sensors, filtration material, and aerosolized healthcare to provide people with a more integrated experience with their environment in the form of a wearable mask series.
